Summary: Regular site check. Water samples. Lowered Forerunner probe. It's not our tower anymore... the wasps have taken over.

West Pond
2014-07-15

We arrived about 14:30 PDT. It was hot and sunny. The water level was normal, and the inlet running strong. Kathleen took water samples at the inlet, outlet, and near the tower probe while Sara and I attended to the tower.

The Forerunner CO2 probe was barely in the water. Lowered it so that the sensor end was submerged about 3 cm.

There are HUGE wasp nests in the ends of the extruded pipes that carry the flux instruments. Sara was the second sting casualty in as many weeks. Next week we need to bring some wasp spray to rid our beautiful tower of this menace.

7500 readings:
CO2 = 385 ppm (no cleaning due to wasps)
H2O = 790 mmol m-3
signal strength = 81.27%
p = 101.0 kPa
t = 29.8 C
sos = 352.8 m s-1

7700 readings:
CH4 = 1.9 ppm
RSSI = 46% (75% after cleaning bottom mirror only)
Topped off reservoir.

Met looked good.
