Twitchell Rice
2014-07-15

We arrived about 12:45 PDT. Hot and partly cloudy. The rice is growing steadily. I did tower maintenance while Sara and Kathleen did spectral, veg height, and LAI 2000.

I labeled the DO probe as DO-8. It was not out of the water.
There was a note to check the water table depth – it was 22 cm.
I checked the separation distance and direction between the sonic and IRGAs:
Sonic to 7500: 20 cm, 44° N true
Sonic to 7700: 33 cm, 99° N true

7500 readings:
CO2 = 385 ppm (392 after cleaning)
H2O = 870 mmol m-3 (750 after cleaning)
signal strength = 93.3% (93.8% after cleaning)
p = 101.8 kPa
t = 26.8 C
sos: 380.5 m s-1

7700 readings:
CH4 = 1.9 ppm (same after cleaning)
RSSI = 49% (69% after cleaning)

Met looked good.

Veg Height (cm): Tape measure from ground to top of plant - Katheleen noted a fair number of caterpillars in the field eating the leaves
70, 90, 60, 55, 60, 63, 64, 54, 60, 65, 60, 95, 60, 65, 65, 52, 55, 70, 65, 66, avg = 64.7, stdev = 10.75
