Research

The Los Gatos tunable diode laser spectrometer was delivered. We aim to deploy it on Sherman Island in the Delta this winter to measure methane fluxes. Lab tests are underway. James Dorsey is leading the effort.

Make II of the LED ndvi sensor was fabricated and deployed by Ted Hehn, with his assistance from Ilse Mercado. Matthias Falk is making efforts to calibrate it with the ocean optics spectrometer and compare reflectances with Make I. The new diffuse gives is a very good cosine response.

Efforts are underway to assess climate change effects on California agriculture for a Cal EPA to the Governator. Our analysis, with the student Simon Wong, is showing that winter chill is decreasing in the fruit growing region of California
