Summary: Site is cow-trampled and dry. Removed ATI sonic. Tower readings look good. Took LAI, spectral, well depth measurements.

2012-10-18 We arrived about 09:20 PDT. Weather was sunny and warm, no wind, about 18°C. The site clearly looks cow-trampled, very little dull green among the dry and brittle pepperweed. The cows have completely destroyed the fence around the power pole near the tower, and have knocked off one of the metal power boxes. It hangs to the ground with the wires still attached. Joe did his best to partially rebuild the fence and provide a modicum of protection. Joe removed the ATI sonic. I checked the tower, pulled the CR1000 card and reloaded the 8/27 program (without the ATI data feed). Sara and Laurie did LAI, spectral, and well depth. LGR readings: 08:32, 24.74 °C, 147.5 Torr (no adjustment necessary), 13.87 us, 10 Hz, 2.76 ppm 7500 readings: CO2: 19.01 mmol m-3 H2O: 520 mmol m-3 P: 101.8 kPa diag: 248 I cleared spider webs out of the sonic and 7500 paths and cleaned the 7500 window which was dusty. Also cleaned radiation sensors. The 10Hz values looked good after removing the ATI and reloading the old program. MET and Soil CO2 looked good, the Soil CO2 Theta probes 3 & 4 are still in the lab. Next time we need to bring sealant to reseal the hole where the ATI cable was fed into the box. Joe repacked it pretty well but more sealant would be good. |
