Summary: Site continues to yellow and wilt, though still mildly moist. Took clippings, LAI, spectral.

2012-10-18 We dropped Joe off at West Pond to put up the ATI while we came to Twitchell. We arrived at approximately 12:20 PDT. Sunny and hot, very light breeze. The soil in the field is pretty dry and cracked, although still moist. One can walk out in regular boots. The field is pretty yellow and the plants are droopy. I checked the tower and cleaned the flux instruments (lots of spider webs) and radiation instruments. Laurie took clippings and Sara took LAI and spectral. The battery was dead in the white field netbook. But it turns out that the batteries are the same for both the black and white field netbooks. So we swapped the battery out of the black netbook and into the white one so that the spectral measurements could be done. Current 7500 readings: CO2 = 410 ppm prior to cleaning, 420 ppm after H2O = 800 mmol m-3 prior to cleaning, 650 after agc = 43.8 t = 27.7 °C 7700 readings: CH4 = 2.2 ppm RSSI = 30 (bumped to 68 after cleaning) MET values looked fine. |
