Summary: Pepperweed looks a bit duller. Downloaded data, took soil co2 flux, moisture point, well depth. Cut wire on #4 soil co2 moisture probe.

2012-10-11 We arrived about 08:15 PDT. Weather was mildly cloudy, windy, and a wee chilly, about 14°C. The site looked a bit less vibrant today (if pepperweed can look vibrant). Perhaps the cows have just trampled a bit more lately, but the green sprinklings looked duller to me. I checked the tower and downloaded the data and camera pics while Sara, Laurie, and Christina did moisture point, well depth, and soil CO2 flux. No LAI or spectral today. LGR readings: 07:15:38, 23.17 °C, 132.0 Torr (adjusted to 145.4 Torr), 13.86 us, 10 Hz, 1.88 ppm 7500 readings: CO2: 16.17 mmol m-3 H2O: 575 mmol m-3 P: 101.2 kPa diag: 248 I wiped down the 7500 windows. MET and Soil CO2 looked good, except for the following: Sara found that the #4 soil co2 moisture probe wire had been roughly snipped or chewed, and the wire pulled out of the fence. Perhaps a rat got a little carried away… She pulled the probe for repair. I also checked the wiring for the rest of the soil co2 moisture probes since Joe thinks the numbers look funny. The wiring looks good, and I also checked the wiring colors against the manual when I got home so I don’t think there is a problem here. I took photos of the connections into the multiplexor, and as soon as I figure out how to post photos I will put them up for other curious eyes. Sara mentioned she was going to play with the moisture sensors in the lab to see if she is missing anything. |
