Summary: Caught LBL crew - wireless network going forward for both Bouldin sites, alfalfa getting sprayed - maybe.
Bouldin Alfalfa 2024-08-15 Daphne and I arrived at about 14:35 PST. Before arriving at the site we met the LBL crew (Michael, Andrew and Chad) on their way out near the levee. They have been inspecting the sites to see if they can get a line of sight to the pump house on Staten were they plan to set up a network access point. It is supposed to be a broadband private DOE wireless network. They claim we can stream 20Hz data over it. It was warm and breezy at the site. There was a farmer in the field to the east spraying something from a small tank on a trailer behind the tractor. The alfalfa has only recovered a little from the last mowing. I did veg height and about half my values were zero, but then the email I was recording them in crashed and they were lost. About one plant in 4 square meters was about 30cm tall, overall most plants were 15-20cm but not a closed canopy by any means. I also did spectral measurements. Daphne collected the data from the tower. This is an early collection since Daphne will be away next week. The 7500 read: 418ppm CO2, 514mmol/m3 H2O, 33.3C, 101.3kPa, 97.9SS - 98.6 after cleaning The eddy clock was adjusted by +5min to 14:47 PST and logging restarted. We left at 14:55 PST |
