Summary: Quick stop to swap out malfunctioning sonic water level sensor.
Hill Slough 2025-03-26 I arrived at about 8:00 PDT. The wind was blowing like crazy and the southern security fence panel was partially folded to the east. No sense fixing it in this wind. The tide was low, our water sensors were just barely in the water. This was just quick stop to replace the sonic range water level. The original sensor was mounted under the boardwalk and at king tides it got wet and started to corrode. I removed sensors sn 76294-1 and installed sensor sn 68574-3. I made a new mount using a piece of L-metal attached to the post with the data logger and holding the range finder out just below and beyond the solar panel. Hopefully this will keep birds from sitting on it and give it a clear enough view of the water without the boardwalk post interfering. The readings on the 23X looked reasonable. As I was leaving I met Daja from fish and wildlife. She said we will need another/different permit and that she would send an email soon. I left at about 8:40. |
