Bouldin Alfalfa: 2024-08-30 10:50:00 (DOY 243)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne
Summary: Alfalfa flowering but pretty sparse, Remove LI-710 for return to Licor, USB stick mounting problems dealt with, goop on upper 7500 window.
Bouldin Alfalfa 2024-08-30 Daphne and I arrived at 10:50 PST. It was warm and sunny with a nice breeze and hazy horizons. The alfalfa is flowering but pretty sparse - I took some downward photos I can try to do gap fraction with, but I bet there was less the 50% green vegetation. They are harvesting corn so I'm not sure they will get to mowing the alfalfa soon. I cleaned the flux and rad sensors. There was some goop on the upper 7500 window. It was hard to tell if it was insect eggs or bird poo. Daphne collected the flux, met, camera and FD data. The 7500 read: 437ppm CO2, 418mmol/m3 H2O, 27.3C, 101.5kPa, 90SS - 98 after cleaning The high CO2 and low H2O was probably before cleaning. The fresh USB stick didn't mount on the 7550. Daphne thought it was loose in the port so she removed the cover and bent the pins on the port to make the fit tighter. But it still didn't mount. After restarting the 7550 all seemed fine and was logging. I removed the Licor LI-710 sn ET1-00039 and its cable. Sasha at Licor says it hasn't been reporting data recently but I didn't see any physical problems. It's just three wires +12V, G and SDI-12 data. I will return it to Licor to be refurbished and it will probably be sent back for the next experiment. I did spectral and we did veg height (height of the plants not accounting for gaps) together. We left at about 11:20 PST |
