Summary: Field has been grazed by geese/swan, updated met program to fix typo in Bowen calculation
2024-02-28 Bouldin Alfalfa Joe and I arrived at 16:05 PST. It was warm and sunny. We could smell whiffs of some and could see a small smoke plume to our south. Some of the fields we pass on the drive in have been sprayed and are all brown. Birds have been grazing our field: the center of the field looks raggedy with veg height about 0. The sides of the field, and a ring around our tower, looks not bad, with veg height of about 10-25cm. Lots of weeds coming up everywhere. Joe cleaned flux and rad sensors and cleaned off a small spider poop from inside the phenocam window. He attempted spectral measurements but the spectrometer was having problems. The reflected light was brighter than the incoming reference. The sun was pretty low in the sky. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and FD data. I uploaded a new CR1000 program to correct a typo in the Bowen calculations: the qsat formula now uses esat instead of ea. The 7500 read: 430ppm CO2, 330mmol/m3 H2O, 20.8C, 101.5kPa, 97SS – forgot to write down after cleaning We left at 16:30 PST. I thought I saw the exit gate open as we drove in. However, it was closed (our usual code didn’t work) so I still had to exit eastbound onto Hwy 12 and turn around. I realized there are two gates at the exit: a grey one and a yellow one. Earlier I had seen the grey one was open and didn’t check the yellow gate. I’ll e-mail our Bouldin contact, Russ Ryan, for the updated code. |
