Summary: Field continuing to drain, precip bucket clogged--cleared, removed NDVI sensors, updated met program to fix Bowen calculation typo
2024-02-28 Bouldin Corn Joe and I arrived at 15:15 PST. It was mild, sunny, and still. On the way here, we saw a cropduster flying back and forth to our north over Brannan or Staten Island. Some fields along the highway looked dry, but our corn field is still about half-covered in standing water, and the area under the tower is dry at the surface. Still lots of geese and other birds around. The two turnbuckles at the tower were still snug. I don’t remember what the reservoir was, but we refilled it. The precip bucket funnel was plugged and full of funky-smelling water. Joe cleared the plug and all of the water drained out, causing many tips within a minute or so. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and PA data. I checked the phenocam clock as part of its routine check every quarter; I changed it +1:15min from 15:23:30 to 15:24:45 to match the laptop time. Joe cleaned flux and rad sensors. Here you have to pull the Arable mount back in to swing the rad boom around. Joe removed the SRS NDVI sensors sn 882103020 and sn 2046503357 because they have been drifting. I updated the CR1000 met program to remove the NDVI sensors and to fix a typo in the Bowen calculation so that the qsat equation now uses esat instead of ea. There wasn't enough internal memory in the CR1000 so I deleted some of the older programs. Joe noticed the HMP shield here is one of the homemade ones and the nuts holding it together had nearly come all the way off - tightened back up. We have spare radiation shields in the lab that we can bring to swap in next time. The 7500 read: 429ppm CO2, 316mmol/m3 H2O, 21.4C, 101.6kPa, 101SS--> forgot to write after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.08ppm CH3, 56RSSI – 79RSSI after cleaning We left at 15:50 PST. |
