Summary: Standard data collection, swapped Arable Mark 3 - moved phenocam slightly, redid southeast tie down, some power outages.
Bouldin Corn 2024-02-14 Cove and I arrived at about 11:10. It was variably overcast with a cold breeze from the east with rain to come later. The boardwalk at the data logger box level was push up against the boxes by the wind from the last storm. It was a good thing the upper boardwalk had been moved to the bottom. We returned the upper boardwalk to the bottom location after we completed the work. The fence post on the southeast corner was loose in the ground. We pounded it back in a good ways with the standard hammer and had to move the chain and turnbuckle down a couple rungs to reach it. Also had to ream out the attachment hole in the fence post that we had slightly smashed with the hammer. The other tie downs were mostly tight. The water level was just at the surface near the tower and actively draining out of the corner of the field. There are green weeds in high spots on the far side and to the north. We swapped the Mark 3: sn B301069 came off and sn D006617 went on with 2D sonic sn 022365410. It was a trick to mount it so that the solar panel was somewhat south, the sonic (and other tower parts) didn’t shade the radiometers and the sensors were looking at field and not the tower. We ended up moving the phenocam slightly and putting a 1m arm on to put the Arable on the upper left corner of the phenocam frame north of the radiation boom. I did the standard data collection: flux, met, camera, purple air. The 7500 read: 462.3ppm CO2, 503.4mmol/m3 H2O, 14.3C, 101.9kPa, 98.3SS The 7700 read: 3.4ppm CH3, 35.0RSSI – 79RSSI after cleaning and closer to 3ppm High CH4 even with a good breeze. I refilled the wash reservoir by 1/3. We left at about 12:30. We went the back way Alfalfa to push a button, the roads were mostly dry except for an occasional mud hole. |
