Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, field disced today, PurpleAir card slot broken--removed, HMP fan dead--swapped, measured well sensor depth

Carlos, Ngoc, and I arrived at 11:15 PST. It was sunny and clear but felt much colder than at Hill Slough an hour ago. We had a rainstorm two days ago but no major rain forecast for the next 10 days. The workers had just finished discing our field as we pulled up the site. The tractor was pulling a set of discs and a set of smooth rollers and was moving onto the field to our north. They left an untouched swath where Charlotte’s chambers are. I looked at her chambers, cables, and boxes and they all looked undisturbed. Someone had broken into her boxes last week.

Carlos downloaded the met, cam, USB GHG, and IRT data. The USB has two corrupted GHG files that could not be moved. Since the files were pretty small, I told him to delete the files and “repair” the USB. He checked the PurpleAir data but the card was empty since the spring mechanism broke last week. He disconnected its power and brought the sensor sn 84f3ebd5ffb1 back to the lab for further inspection. He also tightened the datalogger and mux screws; some screws were maybe 1/8 turn loose, but most were fine.

Ngoc cleaned the flux and rad sensors. I checked the precip bucket; it was clean but I accidentally tipped it.

The HMP fan was dead—I swapped it. The new fan wasn’t working at first, but then we realized the top of the sensor was hitting the middle of the fan. All seemed ok after lowering the sensor slightly within the radiation shield. The wash reservoir was 70% full, refilled.

Carlos measured the well depth.
Top of pipe to sensor, 127cm
Top of pipe to ground, 54cm
So depth of sensor = 127-54 = 73cm

The 7500 read: 431ppm CO2, 278mmol/m3 H2O, 14.7C, 102.2kPa, 101SS--102 after cleaning
The 7700 read: 2.1ppm CH4, 42RSSI--74 after cleaning

We left at 12:15 PST. We’ll move the soil sensors back out to the field next time.
