Summary: Collected short soil core, buried miniDOT and cleaned sedpoints

I arrived at 8:30 am, it was very windy and partly cloudy. The goats did a good job and the road to the tower was free of grass, they ate everythnig.

The visit was to collect a short soil core with zero compaction at MB to compare accumulation vs. accretion rates estimated by Pb-210. I took a soil core at the 0.5 footprint. I cut a 10x9 section using a knife and unplugged the upper 20 cm. According to previous results the horizon of restoration is between 10 and 15 cm. I wrapped the core with film and brought it back to the lab where I sliced it in 1 cm-thick sections.

I took advantage of the visit and buried a miniDOT sensor sn 931528 at 30 cm at the 0.5 footprint site, from where I am collecting porewaters. I plan to bury a second one at 10 cm. I cleaned some of the sedpoints that appeared clogged during my last visit. Soil hydraulic conductivity is very low at MB.
