Sherman Barn: 2018-10-04 13:40:00 (DOY 277)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Dennis, Kuno, Tyler, Brian
Summary: First rains earlier this week, standard data collection, Tyler reburied SHF plate on 9/25
Sherman Barn 2018-10-04 I arrived at about 13:40 with Dennis and Kuno. Tyler and their new tech Brian were already there working on the soil chambers and taking soil samples. There are still lots of trucks hauling dirt along the levee and a new road along the base of the levee to the Barn. Recent light rain left the gas analyzers (especially the 7500) dirty. The 7500 read: 395ppm CO2, 635mmol/m3 H2O, 23.5C, 101.7kPa, 93.0SS – 98.0 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.91ppm CH4, 22.5RSSI – 70.1 after cleaning – smear on top mirror. Wash reservoir topped up. Dennis took spectral measurements doing a reference and dark and then taking repeated measures looking down and up and then ending with a reference and dark measurement. He thinks the averaging was set to five. Not much green, some soil, duff. However, when we got back to the lab there was no data because the SD card tab was in a "locked" position (no data could be written). We left Kuno to catch a ride home with Tyler and Brian. They were moving chambers when we left. Tyler had noticed one of our soil heat flux plates poking our of the soil and reburied it at 2 cm on 2018-09-25. We left at 14:00. |
