Summary: Smoky air, regular data collection/cleaning
2024-06-18 Bouldin Alfalfa Charlie and I arrived at 16:30 PST (17:30 PDT). Charlie is an undergraduate student in Rob Rhew’s lab who came along today for more field experience—he has been incubating GT soil cores in the lab and measuring their fluxes with changing water levels. He was amazed that the alfalfa plant becomes hay. It was warm and hazy and the light had that yellow-ish quality of fire season. We couldn’t see Mt. Diablo at all. There were scattered cirrus clouds and an occasional breeze. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and FD data. Charlie cleaned flux and rad sensors. I checked the phenocam clock as part of its routine quarterly check and changed it -1:00 minute around 16:43 to match the laptop time. We didn’t have a tape measure today, so no veg height. I estimate 20-30cm. I skipped spectral because of the uneven light conditions. The 7500 read: 407ppm CO2, 391mmol/m3 H2O, 30.8C, 100.7kPa, 98SS—101 after cleaning I tried to show the undercanopy PAR to Charlie, but couldn’t find it. It was giving reasonable data, so I know it’s there somewhere. We left at 17:00 PST (18:00 PDT) and exited out of the usual gates. |
