Summary: Visiting student, alfalfa mowed, cleared debris off zPAR sensor, heat wave in next two weeks
2024-06-27 Bouldin Alfalfa Sharmila and I arrived around 13:10 PST (14:10 PDT). It was warm, breezy and mostly clear. The alfalfa has been mowed but not raked or baled. The cut alfalfa was dry and crispy. Sharmila is an undergraduate student visiting AMP for a week and using Ameriflux data for her senior thesis. It’s only been a week since our last visit, but the schedule has been jiggered around because of Hill Slough soil sampling and the CRAM assessment for the wetland sites. There will be a major heat wave in the next two weeks. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and FD data. Sharmila cleaned flux and rad sensors. We trimmed the alfalfa under the tower. I cleared off debris from the zPAR sensor, which had been completely buried. It’s about three strides-length away from the tower. Sharmila and I took spectral measurements. The 7500 read: 424ppm CO2, 443mmol/m3 H2O, 31.4C, 101kPa, 100SS—100 after cleaning We left at 14:00 PST (15:00 PDT). |
