Summary: Grasses turning brown, fixed west FD chamber, time to do end of season clip plots

I arrived at about 12:30 PDT after a stop in the Delta to help move the corn tower closer to the corn. It was clear and sunny but hazy and warm with a cool breeze not often enough. There was a huge bull rubbing itself on the gate when I arrived but he had wandered off by the time I got my keys out. The grasses are turning brown in all but the lowest spots. The water hole is still mostly full and the stream was running well. Veg height is complicated – somewhere between knee and shoulder high depending on where you stand. Call it 70cm.

The Davis Extension folks have taken their annual clip plots for biomass.

The west FD chamber had been left upside down last time from its performance check. I remembered that on the way home and had intended to fix it last week when we worked at Tonzi but just ran out of time. I fixed it this time.

I measured the well and collected the met, flux, FD and camera data. All seemed well.
The 7500 read: 428.1ppm CO2, 475.3mmol/m3 H2O, 30.0C, 99.3kPa, 103.5SS
There were lots of spider webs on all the eddy equipment that I wiped off

I went to the pond. Nasty thistles have grown up along the dam making it hard to reach the data logger box and the staff gauges. I knocked them down in the needed places.

I left at about 13:30 PDT
