I arrived at 10:40 PDT. It was dry and hot with high thin clouds and a nice breeze. The grass is crispy with no green to be seen. It rained a little a few days ago but not enough to be noticed a few days later. The water hole is about half full.

After measuring the well. I checked on the new soilVue sensors installed last time. The first of the three was not reading or recording. I downloaded the CR1000 data and uploaded a new program that uses the M1!-M6! commands instead of the C! command. After I fixed some bugs they still weren’t reading properly. I thought maybe it was because they were sharing the same control port with other SDI-12 sensors which were not in the slow sequence. After moving the soilVue sensors to their own control port they seemed to work.

In the lab I reinstalled the FTDI serial port drivers on the laptop but still seemed to be having some issues. However, unplugging and replugging the USB adapter seem to solve the problem most times.

I collected the flux, FD and camera data.
The 7500 read: 439.3ppm CO2, 455.1mmol/m3 H2O, 31.8C, 99.3kPa, 103.3SS

I checked the sonic heading it was about 12deg true – which is almost the magnetic declination 14deg.

I left the fence charger off since no cows seem to be around and it’s so dry.

I left at about 11:50
