Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, a little more water under the tower, adjusted water level sensor height, changed eddy clock -3min, lots of spiderwebs and cattail fluff
2020-10-22 East End I arrived at 11:50 PDT. It was a sunny, windy, and dusty day. There were blue skies above but sufficient haze at the horizons to cover Mt. Diablo. Goats and a white van/truck were on the gravel road south of the tower. The water level was a little higher; the staff gauge read 33 cm. The wetland is maybe about ½ yellow, with more green reeds along the channel edges. The water level sensor had been pulled up to the top of the well. I think an otter had maybe clambered over the sensor cable between the well and the tower, pulling the cable down and the sensor up. I lowered the sensor down to its max reach. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. When the eddy clock read 11:05, I changed it to 11:02 to sync with the laptop time. I reset the 7550 box and all looked ok. I cleaned flux and met sensors—lots of cattail fluff and spider webs, and I left some prophylactic mothballs in the met box. The wash reservoir was empty; I refilled it. There is one old battery on the boardwalk that needs to be taken back to the lab. LI-7500 readings: CO2 400ppm H2O 350ppm T 23.2C P 101.1kPa SS 99 --> 101 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.7ppm --> 1.9 after cleaning RSSI 3 --> 75 after cleaning I left at 12:25 PDT. |
