Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, cleaned outlet drain, reference GCC photo, attached minidot to plastic chain
2019-02-28 East Pond We arrived at 14:40. It was mostly sunny with a cool breeze, puffy clouds, and a clear view of Mt. Diablo. Robert and Camilo cleared out the outlet drain; there was about 30cm of sediment/plants on top and another 30 cm of decomposing veg below the sediment. The shovel was good for loosening the sediment and the hoe was good for removing material from the outlet. The water level at the tower was 54 cm. I downloaded met, camera, USB, minidot, and HOBO data. Robert cleaned the flux and rad sensors and took a reference GCC photo. The wash reservoir was 1/3 empty; we refilled to ¾ full to conserve water for other sites. Camilo swapped the minidot desiccant and moved the minidot and HOBO from a string to a yellow plastic chain. The sensors were hanging off of a cross-brace on the S side of the tower, and they are now hanging off the scaffolding on the W side of the tower, next to the staff gauge. This will make the it easier to access the sensors from the lower boardwalk. He added a single chain link that can be snapped open to adjust the height of the chain, but it could probably be swapped for a stainless steel carabiner. We turned around and exited out of the green gate by the WP inlet. |
