I arrived about 11am with Siyan and Daphne. It is greener here than at Vaira and there are lots of flowers, yellow, purple, blue and white. There were a couple of small pigs mostly white with some black rooting around near the edge of the pond.

Siyan did the standard fieldwork plus midday water potential. She also serviced the z-cams, collected data from the ground based data loggers and reset the clock on the floor 23x it was ahead by one day.

Daphne worked on adding a new Ameriflux eddy system to the floor tower. She moved the old sonic and LI-7500 to a temporary arm and mount. Then she put on the new 7500A sn 0042 sn AIU-1869 and sonic sn 170525. In the process of hooking up power she shorted something and blew the 7.5A fuse at the solar panels. There were spare fuses in the box. Here we set the AIU clock, but were having a hard time getting the analog channel settings to stay set. We changed them to the correct values, but when we restarted the software the settings were reset to defaults. I’m not sure what the problem is, but we can fix it in post processing if necessary.

I worked on the tower top. The problem I was having with the 23x last week is because I was plugging into the wrong ports. Using the correct ports, downloading the data was easy. The internal lithium battery is a little low 2.5V

I added a new Ameriflux eddy system sn 0041, sn AIU-1866, sn 170523 to the Tower top. There was a secondary post on the tower but it was too large for the mount I had. I brought a smaller post but the fittings on the tower did not fit the smaller post. I made some shims by cutting a small section of a plastic pipe in half lengthwise. The shims allowed the smaller pipe to be mounted securely. I moved the old eddy system to this temporary mount and installed the new equipment on the permanent mount. The new sonic has the same orientation as the old, but should be checked. I tried to align the old sonic on the new mount to true north but it was a bit of an eye ball job. I set up the new AIU with the correct analog inputs, site name, time and time zone.

When the computer crashed I tried to setup a CR6 to collect the Phenocam images, but forgot the correct cable to check on it twice. Turns out no camera images have been collected for about four weeks. Today I set up an Ethernet switch and was able to test all the settings. The CR6 worked fine from the computer, but I could not get the camera to connect to it to FTP images. Instead I changed the CR1000 program to use only half the CF card for flux data leaving the rest of the card free to store the camera images. With no changes to the settings the camera was able to send the images to the CR1000 just fine.
