Summary: Calibrated 7700, raining, field is draining, VWC sensors still unplugged--needs more work, measured well water level
2025-02-19 Bouldin Corn Carlos, Ella, and I arrived at 12:30 PST. Ella is an undergrad who took Dennis’s class and is interested in fieldwork. It was raining but it looked like it was going to pass through soon based on the radar, so we waited in the car for about 15-20 minutes before starting field work. We had a few big storms in the last few weeks. I ran into Charlotte at Hilgard earlier this week and she mentioned some power outages recently. We’ll have to check the data to see if it affected us, or if our lithium power pack was able to bridge the gaps. The field is less flooded than it was before. I measured the water level manually in the well because we don’t have a water level sensor here right now. The water level was 11.5cm below the ground. (Top of well pipe to water level = 65cm, Top of well pipe to ground = 53.5cm) Carlos downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and PA data. Ella cleaned flux and rad sensors. We calibrated the 7700 (offsets were small). We put the spiky hat and spray nozzle back on after the calibration. The reservoir was ¾ full; we refilled it. I meant to troubleshoot the VWC sensors today but forgot since Carlos was the one on the tower downloading data. The soil is still saturated right now. The 7500 read: 435 ppm CO2, 590 mmol/m3 H2O, 14.1 deg.C, 102.2 kPa, 99 SS --> ?? did not write after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.32 ppm CH4, 74 RSSI after cleaning We left at 13:50 PST. |
