Summary: Replaced lower boardwalk wood - broke bolt, Standard field work, rotating shadow band not rotating - fixed
Hill Slough 2025-04-17 I arrived at about 9:00 PDT. There was a bit of drizzle and almost rain in the Bay this morning but here there is just a low overcast and cool. At least it isn't windy. The tide is high and ebbing. The clumps of tules look larger. There are lots of birds about. I replaced the wood on the lower boardwalk - the new wood was left here several weeks ago. I broke the north most bolt, but I got the other two loose - we might swap these bolts for stainless steel next time. I did the standard data collection: met, flux and camera. The shadow band was not turning. I messed with the motor controller and it started up again. It almost felt like a loose wire but I couldn’t make it stop again. The motor speed is about a half revolution in 34sec. The 7500 read: 434.1ppm CO2, 424.2mmol/m3 H2O, 13.8C, 101.6kPa, 98.4SS - 99.4 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.99ppm CH4, 38.7RSSI - 91.3 after cleaning I refilled the wash reservoir. I measured the pore water and surface salinity - the meter was giving me an unstable reading 'rANG' for the pore water and I think this was because it was on a break point for the auto-range (5-49.99mS/cm). Pore water, 5.0mS, 15.9C Surface, 2133uS, 14.5C SW_in seems stable - no more spikes. I rinsed off the miniDot sock and collected the minidot data on the boardwalk but didn't change the desiccant. Water level was 4.20ft at 8:52 PST |
