Hill Slough

Kyle, Mel, and I arrived at 17:30 PDT. Mel is a new grad student in Iryna’s lab interested in mammal/bird benefits from wetland restoration projects. It was breezy, sunny, and mild. The emergent vegetation looks about the same as last time. It’s higher tide today so I think the youngest plants are probably covered by the water. There were some sleepy wasps in the datalogger box; I shooed them out and put some more duct putty in the hole for cables.

The staff gauge read 4.8ft at 16:41 PST.

Mel cleaned flux and rad sensors. We topped off the wash reservoir. Kyle took a porewater sample around 16:30 PST. We measured it back at the car.

Sample, Temperature-compensated conductivity, Sample temperature, Time
Porewater, 7.85mS, 21.4C, 16:30 PST

I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I changed the eddy clock +1min around 16:55 PST to match the laptop time and restarted logging. I installed the dfPAR enclosure that Joe had fitted with a new motor. I reattached the PAR sensor to the top of the box and attached the box to the L-bracket mount on the scaffolding.

The 7500 read: 397ppm CO2, 668mmol/m3 H2O, 22.3C, 101.1kPa, 94SS – 99 after cleaning
The 7700 read: 2.06ppm CO2, 41RSSI – 82 after cleaning

At the channel, I downloaded miniDOT data and changed its desiccant. EXO pH, ORP, fDOM, and turbidity data have been looking weird so we pulled it today to recalibrate in the lab. Kyle and Mel cleaned it off so we could transport it home without worrying about the state of the car. I put the EXO in a plastic grocery bag for the ride and unplugged the power from the EXO adapter interface.
Sensors removed:
sn 22C103416 EXO2
sn 22E106072 Turbidity
sn 22E100649 fDOM
sn 23D104030 Conductivity/Temperature
sn 22D102641 pH/ORP

We left at 18:15 PDT.
