Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, windy, dfPAR numbers too high--fixed?, CTD sensor needs to be lowered next time, maybe intermittent power issues coming into datalogger box--needs more attention

Hill Slough

Koong and I arrived at 17:15 PDT. It was cold, windy, and mostly overcast. The surface of the water was showing the ripples from the breeze blowing from the west and southwest. The staff gauge read 4.20 feet at 16:29 PST. The water level was mid-low and ebbing.

I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. dfPAR and totPAR numbers were way too high, but they seemed ok after I cycled the power on the CR10X. I think we had the same problem 2 months ago during the site visit on 2022-02-17.

I didn’t see the picam on the wifi network at first, but it showed up after I cycled its power. The last picam photos was from 2022-04-11 so it was missing about 2 days of photos.

I also briefly lost connection to the datalogger during the site visit. I think there’s a loose power wire somewhere. I didn’t see anything obvious in the box but I need to investigate more next time.

Koong cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir.

I dropped a Campbell screwdriver in the water by the grounding rod. We should look for it next time we’re here at low tide.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 415ppm
H2O 427ppm
T 14.0C
P 101.9kPa
SS 100--> 100 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 1.97ppm
RSSI 57 --> 70 after cleaning

We left at 17:45 PDT.

Looking at the CTD water level data, I think the sensor is getting exposed to air during low tide. Next time we can dig a little depression underneath the sensor and lower it slightly.
