Summary: Regular data collection, field tilled, swapped 7500 for calibration, installed fresh motor for dfPAR, some mux gaps--fixed
2022-04-13 Bouldin Corn Koong and I arrived at 14:50 PDT. It was mild, breezy, and partly overcast. Our field has been tilled, so good thing Joe moved the soil sensors out of the field during our last site visit. The mux sensors had some gaps in the past few days again. I tightened 1H on the datalogger 1 full turn and slightly tightened the other common connections. I’ll add a recurring task to check these screws as this has happened a few times before. The last time this happened was Nov 2021, so it should probably be checked every 3 months. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the PA data and cycled its power. I downloaded the FD data and cleared its memory. I downloaded the IRT data by swapping the microSD card and using CardConvert to convert the fast data to TOB1 and the slow data to TOA5. Koong cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir. The fresh camera card wouldn’t mount on the datalogger—its status light was a solid red after inserting the card. I moved the photos off of the old camera card onto the laptop and put the old camera card back in the datalogger. It mounted fine. The fresh camera card opened fine on the laptop, but I’ll do a full reformat of the card back in the lab. We swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 0042 came off and sn 0065 went on the tower. I uploaded a new configuration file and updated the pressure coefficients. I changed the eddy clock +40sec to match the laptop time and reset the box. There was a steady 7700 time sync error message, so I stopped logging, changed the eddy clock +2sec (a better match to the laptop time anyways since I was a little late the first time setting the clock) and restarted logging. There was no 7700 time sync error. I installed a new motor and original shadowband for the dfPAR setup. The previous motor had died. The dfPAR and totPAR numbers seemed reasonable. On the Campbell water level sensor, the yellow and shield wires leading to AG were broken. There was enough remnant of the yellow wire so that I could reattach it to AG. The shield wire was broken off completely, but I don’t think it’s critical for measurements. I think someone had yanked on the cable accidentally. The cable could probably use a ziptie next time. LI-7500 readings (sn 0042 --> sn 0065): CO2 414 ppm --> 428 (slightly bigger jump than usual but probably ok) H2O 294 mmol/m3 --> 294 T 16.7C --> 17.2 P 102.1kPa --> 102.1 SS 103--> 102 LI7700 readings: CH4 2.3 ppm --> 1.92 after cleaning RSSI ?? didn’t write before cleaning --> 79 after cleaning We left at 15:30. |
