Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, super foggy, swapped 7500 and 7550, calibrated 7700, deployed RPi cam, dfPAR not working--maybe ok now, TC7 bad--unwired

Joe and I arrived at 9:10 PST. It was cold and foggy with very limited visibility on the roads. Part of the haystack under the bridge overpass had fallen over, but there was still enough space to drive on through. There was a little breeze in the air but the water current did not look to be moving at all, there were just some ripples on the surface caused by the wind. The staff gauge read 37cm.

The 7500 and 7550 were still showing the same errors when I tried to launch the 7550 software. The 7500 was not giving any data and the persistent 7550 error messages prevented me from clicking on anything else in the software. I was able to launch the 7550 using an older software version (8.5.0) to get the initial concentration numbers. We swapped out the 7500: sn 0418 came off and sn 1594 went up. We also swapped out the 7550: sn AIU-1285 came off and sn AIU-0614 went on. Joe had set up the new 7500 and 7550 together in the lab, so the config file and pressure coefficients were already up to date.

Because of the 7500 error, there was no CO2/H2O data from 2021-11-17 to 2021-12-01. There should be CO2/H2O data starting from today.

Next time I need to check Tsonicâ€”that was also funky with the old 7550/7500.

Joe cleaned the flux and rad sensors. There was a lot of fog in the air so it was hard for the RSSI to go >60 even when clean. The RSSI increased to 85 once we put the hood on.

We calibrated 7700 sn TG1-0223. The optics RH was 22%, so after the calibration we flushed the headspace with zero air until it read 10% and swapped out the desiccant bottle for one with fresh drierite. The calibration looked good.

I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I swapped the desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensors. I downloaded the Stardot photos. TC7 has been giving bad data mid-November; itâ€™s not a wiring issue so I left it unwired so at least itâ€™s not giving bad data anymore.

The diffuse PAR data was still not coming in, but it seemed to magically fix itself as soon as Joe connected his laptop to the CR10X. There might be something weird with the program because the dfPARcount was >100, but I think we left it as is for now because the data seemed reasonable.

The met data looked fine since I fixed the power short last week so Iâ€™m optimistic the power problems have been solved for now. Joe put up the RPi cam sn RPI0W-003 in its usual location on the wooden 4x4. He also installed a new pluggable power strip in the power junction box.

There were lots of dead ants in the met box and dead or mostly dead wasps in the power junction box. We brushed them out of the boxes into the water below. Then later, Joe dropped a Campbell screwdriver into the water below the power junction box so he had to reach into the water filled with almost-dead wasps.
