Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, water level is back up!, wasps, Apogee NDVI tilted--fixed, water level sensor pulled up--fixed, changed eddy clock +1min

East End

Ari and I arrived at 12:05 PDT. It was hot with a slight breeze. The water level was actually come up here since my last visit, surprisingly. The staff gauge read 31cm. There were some wasps buzzing about, but fewer than earlier in the month.

The Apogee NDVI were obviously not level and were tilted to the south. Ari re-leveled the sensor. Some Apogee NDVI data probably needs to be thrown out during processing. A bird probably sat on the sensor and caused it to tilt down.

I downloaded met, camera, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I changed the eddy clock +1min to match the laptop time. We swapped the desiccant for the miniDOT and the water level sensor. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors and we topped off the wash reservoir. I checked the conductivity sensor as part of its routine check and the orifice was clear.

The water level sensor had been pulled so it was barely touching the water. Probably an animal had clambered around the area and disturbed the sensor--we can probably see a step change in the data when the sensor was moved by the animal. We moved the water level sensor down again. The sensor's new position is about 23cm below the soil surface (about 5cm above the bottom of the well).

Calculations:
Height from top of pipe to sensor: 239cm
Height from top of pipe to water level: 195cm
Height from water level to soil surface: 21cm
Height of sensor below soil surface = 239-195-21cm = 23cm
The sensor was reading 0.62psi, which is about 43-44cm of water. 239-195cm is 44cm, so the numbers check out!

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 392ppm
H2O 606ppm
T 29.7C
P 101.1kPa
SS 93 --> 99 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 2.0
RSSI 50 --> 79 after cleaning

We left at 12:50 PDT.
