Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, visitors from UCSC, hazy skies, no water at the tower, trimmed tules in front of solar panels, swapped miniDOT batteries, changed eddy clock +1min, removed radiometer cal kit
2021-08-17 East End Joe, Ariane, and I arrived around 12:20 PDT. Visiting us for the day were Susan and Gracie, 2 of Adina’s students who will be working with the future eddy covariance towers at Elkhorn Slough. We had lunch and then got to work downloading data. It was warm and humid with an occasional cool breeze, and the skies were overcast from a combination of clouds and haze from wildfire smoke. There is still no water at the surface so the miniDOT and conductivity sensor were both in the air. I did not read the staff gauge because the water level was below the surface. However, the cattails and tules still looked pretty green. Joe trimmed the tules in from of the solar panels and washed the panels. He entered the wetland from the road so not to disturb the plants around the undercanopy PAR sensors by the tower. Ari, Susan, and Gracie cleaned flux and rad sensors. I topped off the wash reservoir. I downloaded met, camera, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I swapped in fresh desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensors and put in new lithium batteries for the miniDOT. I changed the eddy clock +1min to match the laptop time and reset the 7550. I downloaded the cal kit data and it looked ok, so we removed the sensors from the rad boom to move to MB. Datalogger and sensors removed: CR1000 sn 23865 CNR4 sn 121038 PAR sn 060831 NDVI in sn 1049 NDVI out sn 1050 LI-7500 readings: CO2 397ppm H2O 679ppm T 27.2C P 100.6kPa SS 99 --> 99 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.95 RSSI 47 --> 70+ after cleaning We left around 13:15 PDT. We showed Susan and Gracie the view from the levee by the pump house, then they went back to Santa Cruz while we headed to Sherman Island to finish our last 2 sites of the day. |
