Summary: Swapped the 7500 due to pressure problem, fixed broken boardwalk, fixed bad sonic data, fixed loose phenocam ethernet cable
Mayberry 2021-06-16 Daphne and I arrived at 7:50. It was clear sunny and warm with a little breeze. We took the back way in down off the levee, along the edge of the alfalfa field and into Mayberry – this way we don’t have to deal with the cable gate but maybe we don’t want to make the way round more visible either. The water level was 68cm. I repaired the boardwalk where it was broken from dropping a gas cylinder on it. The crosspiece split where the bolt holding it to the east post went through. I pulled it back into position with a ratchet strap and bolted a new crosspiece under the old one. Now there are two crosspieces holding that part of the boardwalk. There was a very stinky sulfur smell when I disturbed the mud around the boardwalk posts. I also cleaned a bunch of otter/raccoon poop off the boardwalk. The sonic data had stopped late on June 2. Restarting the 7550 box and re-plugging the sonic data cable at the box made no difference. The power connections looked okay. Re-plugging the cable at the base of the sonic seemed to fix the problem. The 7500 pressure has been low ever since the head was swapped on 2021-05-26 for calibration. The pressure coefficients seemed to be okay but the 7500 was reading 99kPa while the 7700 was reading 101kPa. Daphne swapped the 7500 head: sn 0042 came off and sn 75H-2180 went on. The new config file was uploaded, pressure coefficients updated and the 7550 box was reset. The 7700 was connected, usb logging, the pressure was okay, and the clock was good. The 7500 2180 read: 434ppm CO2, 640mmol/m3 H2O, 28.3C, 101.4kPa, 100SS The 7700 read: 1.99ppm CH4, 84RSSI Daphne cleaned the flux sensors. The phenocam Ethernet cable had come loose from the switch so only two days of images were saved. The plastic tab on the Ethernet connect is broken. Daphne noticed that a shadow from the flux instrumnets falls across the radiometers between 7:00 and 7:30 PST. I cleaned the solar panels. We left at 8:45 |
