Sherman Island: 2014-05-07 09:15:00 (DOY 127)
Author: Cove Sturtevant
Others: Joe

Summary: Pepperweed abundant. 6400 needs attention. Mouse on spectral computer not working. Otherwise, all well.

We arrived about 9:15 PDT. It was sunny and warm with a decent breeze. The pepperweed is still super tall and dense, and now heavily flowering, but I dare say it has gotten slightly more trampled since the last time we visited. When doing a veg survey I noted that it became less dense farther out in the footprint.

Joe attended to the tower, did moisture point and well depth, and played with the autocam while I did soil respiration, spectral, and a veg height survey. The 6400 did not give a high humidity warning but the ambient CO2 and H2O values seemed high (450 ppm CO2, 19 mmol m-3 H2O). I think it needs some attention. A note to whoever grabs the respiration measurements: The File is Data_SI20140507 and I hit ‘Log’ several times before going the actual respiration measurements while I was figuring the menu out.

Joe made a note that the autocam clock was 10 min fast – reset. Also, the Met program was executing at 2 seconds, he changed it to 10 seconds.

Sara, I’ll ask you when you return from DC about the Moisture Point spreadsheet. I didn’t want to enter Joe’s data wrong.

A note about the spectral computer: the mouse isn’t working. Joe and I figured out how to do it without the mouse, but the spectral files are loose in the main SIspectral folder. The last measurement (#10) should be deleted – it’s from Alfalfa.

LGR readings: 1.915 ppm, 09:22, 21.85 C, 137.7 Torr (adjusted to 142.5 Torr), 14.750 us, 10 Hz

7500 readings:
CO2: 16.3 mmol m-3 (same after cleaning)
H2O: 580 mmol m-3 (same after cleaning)
P = 101.2 kPa
T = 20.6 C
Diag: 249 (same after cleaning)

Soil CO2 looked good. Met TC2_16cm is INF.
