Summary: Herbicide sprayed yesterday, discovered chew cables on water pressure and Theta probe, problems with CR1000 and LI7500, misplaced CF card.

2011-07-07 I arrived about 9:15 with Jaclyn, Jose and Maribel. There was a light breeze. It was warm and sunny. The rice looks good. I noticed a splattering of small mud colored droplets on the box and tower equipment. Talking to Jim and Bruce we found out that they sprayed the field with a herbicide for the water grass from a helicopter the day before. In field one, they only sprayed some strips. The herbicide will also damage the rice but it is supposed to recover. The LGR was running and the pressure has been holding steady. 8:32PST, 25.59C, 143.30Torr, 16.066usec, 10Hz, 1.825ppm Loggernet was not reporting data from the LI7500 on the CR1000. I restarted the LI7500, the CR1000 and The computer and it seemed to fix the problem. I have had the SDM hang up once at Sherman. We cleaned herbicide off the radiometers and the LI7500 windows. The water pressure sensor was not reporting. Checking the cable we found that it had been chewed by otters. The Theta probe that died last week seems to also have been chewed by otters. Both of these sensors were removed for repair in the lab. The Theta probe was wired to the AM25T: 25H = yellow 25L = green G = shield The pressure sensor was wired to the 23X: G = black 12V = red C5 = white G = yellow, blue, shield I might have mistakenly disconnected a green wire in C4 for the atmospheric pressure sensor. Picked up a LI7500 from Frank for testing and calibration. I swapped the card on the CR1000, but I think I left the removed card at the site. I have the data from the computer so we should miss any data if I cannot find the card. |
