Irene and I arrived at 8:10 PST (9:10 PDT). It was sunny with a strong breeze and super clear. Today would’ve been a great day to check out the view from Mt. Diablo! The staff gauge read 52cm.

Although Irene has been to Hill Slough sites multiple times for sampling, today was her first time on a regular Delta site visit. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I swapped the desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensor. The reservoir was mostly full; we topped it off. I showed Irene how to clean the flux and rad sensors.

We swapped the 7500A for calibration: sn 75H-2667 came off and sn 0073 went on. I loaded the new config file and updated the pressure coefficients. I reset the eddy clock +1:30min from 9:50 to 9:51:30 to match the laptop time and reset the 7550 box. After it rebooted, I checked that all was ok, the USB was logging, and there was no 7700 error.

I sent a new CR1000 program that adds calculations for the modified Bowen-variance method. The real-time data with the new program looked ok.

I checked the Campbell conductivity sensors as part of its routine check every 3 months. I cleaned a tiny bit of mud out of the orifice.

Irene and I sampled the open and vegetated porewater sippers and measured their conductivity. For all samples, we rinsed the syringe with the first 10ml of sample we pulled from the sipper, then discarded that. We then pulled another 20-30ml from the sipper, which we measured.

Most of the vegetated sippers that were clogged last time remain clogged, although one depth (veg-black-yellow) that was clogged produced water this time! I have no idea what changed as there has been plenty of surface water recently.

All of the open sippers had a lot of gas coming up in the tubing. The volume in the tubing was >50% bubbles, except for open-black-white, which had only about 20% bubbles.
