Hill Slough: 2024-03-25 15:05:00 (DOY 85)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Dennis, Izzie
Summary: Windy!, high tide, pulled up EXO for cleaning
2024-03-25 Hill Slough Dennis, Izzie, and I arrived at 15:05 PST (16:05 PDT). Izzie is an Environmental Sciences senior using Delta data in PEPRMT for her thesis. It was super windy today and cool and partly cloudy with cirrus and cumulus clouds. It was near high tide and seeing the small waves on the water's surface made it feel like we were on an ocean. The staff gauge read 5.8ft at 16:07 PST. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. Dennis cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir. Izzie measured the surface and pore water conductivity. Sample, Temperature-compensated conductivity, Water temperature, Notes Pore water, 6.53mS, 15.8C Surface, 2418uS, 22.7C The 7500 read: 414ppm CO2, 495 mmol/m3 H2O, 17.3C, 101.6kPa, 99SS -- forgot to write after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 49RSSI – 80 after cleaning At the channel, I downloaded the miniDOT and swapped its desiccant. I pulled up the EXO to show to Izzie. Dennis cleaned off some pink roe from the sensor guard and I wiped the sensors with a rag. The turbidity and fDOM sensors were muckier than I expected--usually it's fine getting wiped every 2 weeks. The EXO is not due for calibration for another month, but it's probably a good time to bring it in to install the auto wiper since biological activity will probably be picking up as the weather gets warmer. I'll be out in the Delta again next for the Knightsen field trip so I could bring it in next week for cleaning, calibration, and wiper installation. We left at 15:40 PST (16:40 PDT). |
