Summary: Cold wet and windy, removed EXO for calibration, changed height of eosGP sensor
2024-04-04 Hill Slough I arrived around 12:30 PST (13:30 PDT). It was cold, windy, and drizzling. The water level was high and the staff gauge read 6.0ft at 12:40 PST. The reservoir was 1/3 empty; I refilled it. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I checked the flux and rad sensors but I didn’t clean them since more rain is coming tonight. I cleaned out a small piece of fluff from the rain bucket. I measured conductivity. Sample, Temperature-compensated conductivity, Water temperature, Notes Pore water, 6.61mS, 12.2C Surface, 2154uS, 13.1C The 7500 read: 399ppm CO2, 133mmol/m3 H2O, 8.6C, 100.9kPa, 77SS (drizzling) The 7700 read: 1.94ppm CH4, 5RSSI (drizzling) At the channel, I pulled out the EXO to bring back to the lab for calibration. Joe had noticed that the EXO depth was cut-off at the bottom. I adjusted the yellow plastic chain, accidentally raising it three links when I meant to lower it. Next time, the EXO yellow plastic chain should be lowered 6-8 links. Sensors removed: sn 22C103416 EXO2 sn 22E106072 Turbidity sn 22E100649 fDOM sn 23D104030 Conductivity/Temperature sn 22D102641 pH/ORP In the met data, I noticed that pCO2 from the eosGP had been close to 0 over the last few days. At the channel, I raised it out of the water to check and saw that its measurement face was clogged with mud. I rinsed out the mud and raised the sensor’s height by about 10cm before dropping it back in the water. I left around 13:15 PST (14:15 PDT). |
