Bouldin Alfalfa: 2024-03-25 13:50:00 (DOY 85)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Dennis, Izzie
Summary: Patchy alfalfa, happy weeds, changed phenocam clock -2min
2024-03-25 Bouldin Alfalfa Dennis, Izzie, and I arrived at 13:50 PST (14:50 PDT). Izzie is an Environmental Sciences senior using Delta data in PEPRMT for her thesis. It was cool and breezy with patchily overcast. We decided to skip spectral measurements since the light was inconsistent. Our field of alfalfa still looks uneven from the grazing geese and the taller alfalfa by the tower don't look so good. Dennis thought it was frost damage but I checked the data when I got back to the lab and nighttime temperatures have been >6C for at least the last three weeks. Probably herbicide damage. Lots of weeds growing around the tower since they probably didn't spray there. Dennis cleaned flux and rad sensors. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and FD data. I also checked the phenocam clock as a routine check every 3 months. I changed the clock -2min from 15:01 to 14:59 PST to match the laptop time. Dennis and Izzie took veg height measurements. The 7500 read: 424ppm CO2, 397mmol/m3 H2O, 17.2C, 101.4kPa, 97SS We left at 14:05 PST (15:05 PDT). Our usual exit gate on the north side of Hwy 12 was open. |
