Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, low water level, lowered floating boom, 7700 wash tubing leaks--replaced, replaced 7500 for calibration
2022-08-30 Mayberry Ari and I arrived at 11:30 PDT. It was windy and mild with a light haze, but otherwise clear. The water level is low to the point that we can see the mud under the tower. The staff gauge read 9cm. (There are 2 barnacles on the staff gauge that could be scraped off next time.) I used a dried reed to poke around in the exposed mud for the level we dropped earlier this year, but I didn't find it. Maybe if I put on boots and walk around next time. I fished up the conductivity sensor out of the mud. The orifice was still mostly clear. I shortened the cable slightly so it's hanging in water instead of buried in the mud. The reservoir was 3/4 full; we refilled it. The 7700 wash tubing has a few leaks in it, so the 7700 has probably been trying to wash more than usual. We replaced the wash tubing today and I ran the 7700 spin/pump to confirm everything was connected properly. The eosGP and miniDOT were barely in the water even though the boom line was slack. The boom is held to the scaffolding by a swivel clamp. I lowered the clamp about 10cm so the sensors were at least halfway submerged now. We might need to lower the clamp more next time. We'll probably also need to lower the well sensor soon so it can stay submerged as the water level keeps dropping. The PARwater sensor cable is exposed at the sensor so it should be replaced. This is the downward facing PAR sensor on the secondary rad boom over the water. The 7700 software had a red warning to change its desiccant because the optics RH=31%. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors. We also swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 75H-2180 came off and sn 75H-2514 went on. I uploaded a new config file and updated the pressure coefficients. Sn 75H-2180 read: 411ppm CO2, 748mmol/m3 H2O, 23.0C, 100.8kPa, 98SS After cleaning, sn 75H-2180 read: 416ppm CO2, 748mmol/m3 H2O, 23.4C, 100.8kPa, 99.5SS sn 75H-2514 read: 401 ppm CO2, 689mmol/m3 H2O, 23.6C, 100.8kPA, 99SS The 7700 read: 1.95ppm CH4, 40RSSI – 83 after cleaning We left at 12:20 PDT. |
