Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, Iryna and Eric's visit, new sonic cable to 7550, 7700 wash tubing leaking--needs replacement, swapped miniDOT batteries
2022-08-16 Mayberry Robert, Iryna, Eric (Iryna’s new PhD student), and I arrived at 11:10 PDT. Iryna and Eric wanted to see the wetland sites (especially the tidal sites). It was definitely warming up, although there was an occasional breeze. The water level is still going down and it was a rather bright green color. The staff gauge read 26cm. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I downloaded miniDOT data and swapped the miniDOT desiccant and batteries. I turned on the miniDOT before redeploying it. Robert and Eric cleaned flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was only 2/3 full; we refilled it. There are several leaks in the wash tubing, right below the upper boardwalk. Robert taped it up and it does pump water for now, but we should replace this tubing next time. I removed the sonic cable from the sonic and pinned a new analog cable to the current connector for the 7550. The 7550 analog inputs (U, V, W, SOS) looked reasonable, so I think the problem last time was just a loose sonic connector. I updated the GHG columns to remove the 7700 auxiliary inputs from being saved. I confirmed the 7550 auxiliary inputs are saved in the GHG columns. I’m pretty sure I updated the eddy clock to match the laptop time, probably setting it forward by 30-60 seconds. TC10 has been spiky in the past but looks ok in the past 2 weeks, so I kept it connected for now. Kanishka and Carlos requested that I take some IRT measurements of the open water today, but I forgot to pack the hand-held IRT today. Next time. Joe says there are some historical IRT measurements here. The toolbox handle broke. The 7500 read: 424ppm CO2, 775mmol/m3 H2O, 29.9C, 100.2kPa, 100SS -- 100 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.04ppm CH4, 28RSSI – 78 after cleaning We left at 12:30 PDT. We were starting to wilt from the heat. |
