Summary: Added new HMP155, had to update data logger program.

Dennis and I arrived at about 17:00. This was supposed to be a quick stop to install a new HMP155 to replace the one removed due to malfunction last week. However it was less than straight forward.

The plastic screw on the solar shield was useless. I broke it off, made a hole with my knife and added a larger metal screw. I don’t think the metal screw will transfer much heat to the sensor body. I might try larger plastic screws.

I wired the HMP155 sn T2820183 into the AM16/32. AirT was okay but RH was reading zero. I swapped the wires so that RH was on the AirT port and it had a signal. I thought maybe the other HMP155 that went bad broke the mux port. I downloaded the data and the current program. Updated the program to use the next two open ports (12 and 13). I left the code for ports 9 and 10 but commented out the DiffVolt reads. Then copied and pasted the code later in the Mux loop for the new ports. After the program was uploaded and the wiring was modified, RH still read zero. Finally I realized that the DiffVolt instruction for RH had the wrong channel – it was reading DE2 instead of DE1. Fixing that and RH was okay. I left it as is.

This tower needs a maintenance trip for some TLC. Both boardwalks feel weak and need replacing. The tower is tilted and needs to be leveled. Fix broken thermocouples. New phenocam?
