Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, very cold, swap 7500 for calibration, eddy clock +2min, update phenocam clock, sounds of hunting, adjusted ottercam position
2022-01-02 Gilbert Tract Mike and I arrived at 9:20 PST. It was very cold (only 2.5C or 36F!), foggy, and relatively still. The water level was at low tide. The road was generally dry and it was fine to drive to the site. While we were on site, we could hear gunshots on and off from both the west and east. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I pulled in the miniDOT to download its data and swap the desiccant. The wash reservoir was 1/2 full; I refilled it. I cleaned flux and rad sensors. I updated the phenocam clock from 2021-05-03 9:27 to 2022-01-02 9:28. The Stardot clock had changed from 2021-12-01 to 2021-04-01 (this happens every so often). Back in the lab, it was a bit annoying to re-stamp the photos because there are 31 days in December but only 30 days in April, so a few of the days had to be changed one date at a time instead of simply replacing the month (from 2021-05-01 to 2021-12-31, etc.). It wasn't too bad this time because there were only 3 days that had to be changed this way. I downloaded the ottercam videos. There was a line of plant detritus on the outside of the camera so it looked like the high water line came up right below the lens, probably from the king tide in the past few days. The camera and card all seemed fine. There were only a few good videos again this time. I moved it a bit closer to the otter trail and mounted it higher so it stays above the water. I might check the settings next time to see if I can make the motion detection more sensitive. I swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 0065 came off and sn 0041 went on the tower. I uploaded a new configuration file and updated the pressure coefficients. I changed the 7550 clock +2 min from 9:37 to 9:39 to match the laptop time and reset the 7550. After the reset, there was a constant (i.e., not flickering) error message next to the 7700 line in the 7550 software that said something like "Clock not synchronized, check 7700 clock settings"). I checked that the clock settings were correct (auto for the 7550, slave for the 7700). I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the 7700 in the 7550 software and resetting the box, but the error message was still there. Finally, I disconnected the 7700 in the 7550 software, reset the box, and then reconnected the 7700 in the 7550 software. This worked to resolve the error message. I checked that the USB was logging and the 7700 was connected before leaving. LI-7500 readings (0065 --> 0065 clean --> 0041): CO2 460ppm --> 467 -->463 H2O 320ppm --> 305 --> 290 T 2.5C --> 2.9 --> 3.4 P 102kPa --> 102 --> 102 SS 100 --> 101 after cleaning --> 101 after swap LI7700 readings: CH4 2.6ppm RSSI 59 --> 82 after cleaning We left at 10:10 PST. Looking at the data back in the lab, the depth data from the new METER cond-temp-depth sensor looks suspicious. It only varies between 170-180cm over the past 2 weeks but the water level is changing on the order of 100cm each day. Joe noticed that the data columns were in the wrong order. Instead of conductivity-temp-depth, it should be depth-temp-conductivity. |
