Summary: Met with Dale Vaira, all moisture point probes are dead, tested tipping bucket, went to the pond

I arrived at about 11:00 PDT. It was mild and partly cloudy with gray puffy clouds moving in from the south. There might have been a little rain â€“ enough to warp the cardboard solar shield on the FD chamber. The trees have lost a lot of their dead leaves and are looking greener than last time I was here. I met Dale Vaira who is taking over the Ranch paperwork from Karen â€“ in fact Karen has sold out her ownership in the ranch to Jim and Dale. Dale says itâ€™s about as dry as he has ever seen it.

I measured the well depth. The two remaining Moisture Point probes are both dead so only the five Theta probes at 0, 10 and 20 cm.

I tested the tipping bucket sn 24875-999 using our new method with the peristaltic pump and 237ml of water which should result in 50 tips. I got 54 tips. I adjusted the screws two full turns CCW which should decrease the number of tips by 8-12% (4-6 tips). I will retest it next time.

I collected the met, flux, camera and FD data. All seemed well.
The 7500 read: 411.3ppm CO2, 523.7mmol/m3 H2O, 99.6kPa, 24.3C, 100.0SS

I noticed a repeating bump in the w wind speed data so I check to see if the sonic was level. The sonic seems level and is oriented at 13 true N (0 magnetic). The bump in w has been there many years and might be due to the solar panels or the boxes at the tower. I'll need to compare with wind direction to tell what might be causing it but probably not worth fixing if it has been there all along.

I went to the pond which continues to go down.
