Summary: Fixed diffuse PAR, Purple Air power came loose - fixed, collected first data from FD chambers.
Bouldin Corn 2019-11-19 Siyan and I arrived at about 9:00am. It was cool and very windy – dust blowing everywhere. Our field is still dry but water is flowing into nearby fields. This was a quick stop to try to fix the diffuse PAR again. The shadow band was mounted too far from the box for the proximity sensor to make contact and tell the data logger when to make readings. The setscrew I thought I lost last time was in the bottom on the hub socket preventing the hub from fitting all the way on to the shaft. The socket was also too tight to easily fit on the shaft. I backed out the setscrew and drilled the socket a little bigger. Then the hub fit onto the shaft easily. I cranked down the setscrew and the CR10X seemed to be reading properly again. The Purple Air power cable was hanging loose again. I plugged it in and saw a power light. I attached the power cord to the Purple Air housing with an existing cable tie. I also tried to tie the upper boardwalk to the scaffolding so that the wind will not toss it again and disconnect the Purple Air. I collected the data from the FD chambers but did not clear them. I replaced the hammer in the battery box with a brick to weight it down. I also left a DB9 serial adapter in the box so we don’t have to remember to bring one. |
