Summary: Removed 2nd batch of litter bags and regular data download and cleaning
Arrived 09:48am, left 11:15am. Sunny, warm, light breeze, hazy, clear sky. Water level was 50 cm (only sank down to the middle of my wellie near the tower and about knee height further in, so generally quite dry). Water was covered in a thick carpet of Azolla and some Lemna under the canopy. (Note 2020-10-14 by DS - The staff gauge noted here is probably a typo. According to the water level sensor and his physical description of the water level, the staff gauge was probably around 15). Still not very green (approx. 70%). Wash reservoir almost empty. Collected met, EC, Cam data. CO2: 443.7 T: 25.2 H2O: 799 P: 101.2 SS 96 -> 97.5 CH4: 2.08 RSSI: 47 -> 82.4 Just wrote an essay on the litter bag removal, but didn't save, so here's the gist: Removed 2nd batch (6 months deployment), incl. poles F-J. Pole J had lost 3 bags, but we found them. Some bags were out of the water and very dry. Many bags had roots growing into them and were very dark or covered in rust coloured stuff (which also coloured the mesh of the bags). Found small worm on one bag, generally lots of critters, and well covered under other decomposing litter. Placed in individual ziploc bags, stored in cool box and then in cold store. |
