Summary: Installed water pressure sensor at the pond, standard fieldwork.
| Vaira 2016-11-17 I arrived about 12:30 with Siyan. It was clear, sunny and mild. The trees here still have some leaves. No puddles on the road but some water in the bottom of the water hole. The grass is getting long especially inside the fences and near the equipment. We went to the pond first. There I pounded in an eight foot length of 1-1/2†aluminum pipe near the top of the dam. It is in a steep section right of the staff gauges when facing the pond. The post ended up not being as high above the ground as I wanted and I might put an extension on it later. We put on a box with a CR10x sn 31307, solar charge controller and battery. A small solar panel went on the top and we ran the water pressure sensor sn 14011129 through PVC conduit down to the water. In the pond I pounded in a wooden stake and attached the conduit and pressure senor to it. I put it as deep as I could get it and ended up with some water in the waders. We also tied the conduit to the bottom staff gauge and to the ground with wire stakes. When it was running it read 0.94psi (2.17ft below the water surface or 11.75ft from the bottom of the pond) and the water level on the staff gauge was 13.92ft. Back at the tower, I collected data and Siyan did soil moisture and cleaned the radiometers. The computer did not wake up and I had to do a hard restart to get it to run. It has been sending data but not collecting or sending images. I left two lengths on PVC conduit here. |
