Summary: Met Vairas about the pond monitoring, installed compute stick and cell modem, cut grass, set up radiometer test, new grass beginning to sprout.

I arrived at 10:00 with Dennis and Sam. We meet the Vairas, Dale, Jim and Karen at our site. We showed them the site then followed them to the pond northeast of our site. The pond is about 22 feet deep and can hold about 24 acre-feet of water. They need to report their water diversion to the state and we will help by measuring the water depth. There are also some road cuts near the dam that show the underlying shale.

We returned to our site about 11am. It was clear sunny and warm with a nice, cool breeze. There was about 95mm of rain last Friday through Sunday. The surface is dry again and there were no puddles in the road, but there was water in the water hole. The grass and herbs have sprouted and some of the grass is already a couple of cm high.

The old dead tree to the west of the site largely collapsed in the last storm.

I installed the compute stick and cell modem in the computer box, and removed the Raspberry Pi. All the connections seemed to work and I tested the auto send successfully. And it seems to have sent on its own later in the day. The new equipment is just kind of stacked in the box. It needs to be straightened out and mounted more permanently.

Sam set up the radiometer test tripod that we brought from Twitchell Rice. This system consists of:
CR6 sn 1238
AM16/32 sn 2113
Hukseflux NR01 sn 1720 – old, scratched SW domes
Hukseflux NR01 sn 2420 – New
K&Z PAR sn 140457 - New

Dennis used his battery powered weed eater to cut a swath inside and outside the fence. We turned on the fence charger when we left.

Dennis tested AirT and RH with a sling pyschrometer
Pyschrometer: Tdry 23 C, Twet 15 C – calculated RH = 41.6%
Data logger: Tair 22.3 C, RH 42.96%
