Summary: Initial site set up.
| Bouldin Alfalfa 2016-08-12 I arrived about 9:30 with Dennis and Patty. We checked in at the shop and talked to a guy named Mike. We took roads west of the shop and wound our way to the north east corner of the field. We drove on the field about two thirds of the way south along the east side of the field. It was clear sunny and hot with a light breeze. The alfalfa was about knee high and they were mowing fields to the north. We unloaded the truck and Dennis and I started on the solar power while Patty went back to Twitchell to get the scaffolding and some other parts. Dennis dug a trench perpendicular to the edge of the field. We buried #14 direct bury power line and a four conductor data line both in aluminum flexible conduit in the trench. The solar panels, charge controller and battery bank were setup at the edge of the field along a drainage ditch. The slope of the panels currently has them pointed to the northeast. They will be changed to point southwest later. Patty returned about noontime with the scaffolding. We setup one 5ft frame on jack feet with one boardwalk, put a set of railings on top and aligned the scaffolding with the field. We started installing mounts and sensors on the scaffolding. Elke, Kyle and Alison arrived about 2pm and helped finish installed sensors. Some sensor locations were measured but will need to be completed later. Soil sensor sets A and B (with temp, moisture and SHF) were buried 4.8m south of the tower. Soil sensor set C was buried 6.6m north of the tower. CS616's were buried next to SHF plates at 2cm depth horizontally. The Theta was buried at 20cm depth on the west side of the tower also horizontally.
