Summary: Swapped main batteries, lots of squirrel activity, troubleshooting diffuse PAR.

I arrived about 1pm with Kyle. It was clear, sunny and mild with a light variable breeze. The road was muddy. We drove on the field in the wheel tracks of other vehicles. The field is the same â€“ no new mowing. The mowed strip near the tower had some lush new growth, except near our tower where the ground squirrels have grazed it to stubble. We saw about five squirrels disappear down holes as we approached. I filled in a bunch of their holes near the tower again.

I swapped out the batteries at the tower with brand new ones. The tower has been losing 30-50% of its data each day. One pair of batteries was relatively new, 2012.

The 7500 read: 409.91ppm CO2, 465.4mmol/m3 H2O, 95.6SS, 19.84C, 103.0kPa

Very few images on the camera due to the power outages.

Kyle did the soil respiration using a battery we brought along. He also did spectral measurements.

I added a CFM sn 6763 to the met CR1000 to collect the high frequency diffuse PAR data, since the calculated minimums donâ€™t seem to be working all the time. I think there is a problem with the way the calculations are done, but I donâ€™t have a test sensor in the lab. I did change the CR1000 program to fix some bugs in the counters I am using as a diagnostic.
