I arrived about 9:00PDT with Dennis and Cove. This trip was for a meeting with Bryan to discuss locations for the Corn tower during construction and to find a location for an alfalfa tower.

Bruce and Jim have the contract for the new wetland construction and will begin almost immediately. I think Jim said they will have to build 16 miles of berms. First they will run a new pipeline for water along the existing road on the west side of the construction to the ponds. They will have 13 scrapers working to build the site and hope to be done by October.

Just as we were heading out, Wyatt met us and came along. We drove along the south side of the island and found a location near some power poles just outside of the construction and down wind. We continued north across the island and looked at an alfalfa field just north and at the east end of the construction. Bryan thought it would get a lot of dust. We also looked at the alfalfa field just to the east of the main gate off the northern levee road. Jaime met us there are gave us permission to setup in a drainage ditch in the middle of the field. This second field was maybe less secure with its exposure to the public road but looked healthier and would be out of the construction dust. The alfalfa was beginning to flower and would get mowed shortly. They mow the field about six times a year and would not cultivate the field for about five years. Ground sensors could be put in as long as they were all completely underground.

We stopped at the corn tower to look for the sensors lost due to the plowing, but had no luck.
