Summary: Fixed tram, Moved tipping bucket, updated soil co2 data logger program, fixed all cow fences, serviced z-cams, fixed west sap flow station.

I arrived with Siyan, Dennis, Laurie and Naama about 11:00. It was warm and sunny with only a light breeze. The ground is very wet with water standing is most low spots. The grass is still growing slowly and the trees do not have leaves yet.

I serviced the Z-cams, all seemed well.

The tram had stopped at the far end of the track. There was a stick jammed in the wheels. I think it realized it was stuck and shutdown because the battery still seemed to be good. I reset it at the beginning of the track and it ran several times before we left.

The radiometers ate the tower top were clean and the hmp45 fan was running. The tipping bucket was half full of water and plugged by bird droppings. I cleared the plug and let the accumulated water run through. I think the screen for the bucket has gone missing – no screen now. I removed the bucket from the tower top and moved it to the soil CO2 enclosure. I downloaded the data from CR23x5 and updated its program to add the tipping bucket on the end. The bucket is staked out to the south of the CR23x5 near the ground. I tipped it four times to check that it was working.

In this process the MD9 network stopped working. I might have missed some of the data (but should already be recorded) and updated the program from the netbook.

The soil co2 cow fence was down due to dirty terminals on the battery. I need to clean and spray these next time.

The west sap flow station (C1) that was blown down is working again. I replaced a terminal to reconnect the battery and plugged it in. The battery was low but the solar panel was charging it. The box is still on the ground and propped up by a board walk.

The tower cow fence had a short near the gate and the lower wire had been knocked down on the west side. Fixed.

The understory hmp45 fan is dead – I need to replace it next time out.

I fixed a short in the cow fence at the floor site.

The floor computer was about 5 minutes ahead. At 11:22 I reset its clock from 11:27 to 11:22. Data logger clocks probably will be changed near midnight.
